Asha Rowland has been dancing since the age of 5, starting with a mother/daughter bellydance class ignited her passion for dance. She later began training in Bharatanatyam, under the direction of Smt. Hema Rajagopalan, at the age of 8 with the Natya Dance Theatre Academy.
As a member of the Natya Dance Theatre Company, she has performed at renowned venues such as The Harris Theater, The Field Museum of Natural History, The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Pritzker Pavillion and McCormick Place to name a few. She has performed at community outreach programs promoting dance heritage and education throughout the Chicagoland area. Asha has also been in several productions, some of which include an excerpt from Race to the Bottom, Jewel, Sita Ram, The Flowering Tree, Varna: The Colors of White, and more recently The Incomplete Gesture. In August, 2014 Asha completed her Arangetram representing her ascension to the stage as a solo artist.
Drawing from a family history rich in music and dance, Asha also strengthens her artistic spectrum to include singing and several musical instruments such as Piano, Guitar and Percussion. With her multi-cultural background, Asha brings harmony and unity to the stage through dance and inspires audiences to see beauty through her artistry.
