Dance Therapeutics: Saving your Bellydance Body: Drawing from Yoga, Feldenkrais, Traditional Thai-yoga Massage, Partner Yoga, Pilates, and Deb's 10 years experience in the field of Holistic Health & Mind-Body Medicine, in this special workshop we will focus on the practices and solutions for dancer’s self-care, wellness, and longevity. Focus will be on spinal articulation, healthy back-bending, Hip, shoulder, and back openers, core-integrated dancing, personal practice, healthy lifestyle, and performance secrets. 3 hour class

Darker Fusion Belly Dance Combinations and Choreography: Learn Ariellah's unique style of belly dance by working with her on dark fusion belly dance combinations and choreography. The workshop includes a yoga infused warm up and repetitive drilling of dark fusion infused belly dance combinations. Students will learn a short choreography that infuses the combinations learned in the workshop. 3 hour class

Well...we think it's slow: Welcome to the softer side of UNMATA.  We're switching the elixir from jet fuel to chammomile tea, and taking sometime to smell the roses.  This workshop features a selection of UNMATA's rarely seen slow repertoire, vinyasa inspired warm-ups, and a chance to catch your breath. 2 hour class

Saiidi-Inspired Tribal Fusion Combos: Drawing from Blue Lotus Tribe's extensive Egyptian Folkloric Bellydance training, take a new look at some traditional Saiidi moves and put them into bouncy fun combinations that will liven up your improv or fusion vocabulary. Zill patterns will be taught for these combinations, so make sure you have yours with you! 2 hour class

Temple Bollywood: Project emotion through the use of Indian postures and classical hasta mudras (hand positions), and learn graceful transitions and foot placement so you will feel centered and grounded Through learning the foundations necessary for physical expression in a Bollywood context, you will be able to apply your newfound knowledge across all disciplines and in your everyday life. By the end of the workshop you will be able to perform a “Bollyasana” that can be used as either a warm-up or as a performance piece. 2 hour class

Expressive arms, hands and movement: Learn the secrets to Ariellah's expressive arms. Her workshop is devoted to strengthening and beautifying the belly dancers arm work. Stretching, strengthening and drilling techniques will be used to build a repertoire of arm movements. Arms and hands are key to expressing one's music and love of dance. Students will be encouraged to stylize their own arm movements after drilling the basics. Some exercises are completed in groups to encourage use of arms and personal stylization of arms. 2 hour class

Beginner's Drumming: We start with the basics: how to choose the right drum, which drums are appropriate for Bellydance, how to hold the drum, and the three sounds or "notes" on the drum--dum, ta, ka. We will also learn how to put the sounds together in building block basic Middle-Eastern rhythms. For anyone who'd like to learn some drums, this is a great beginner class. There will be a $5 discount on each drum class for those taking both drum classes. This does not apply to the "whole enchilada" package. 2 hour class

Shimmie Heaven: Shimmies! All shapes and sizes. Get ready to sweat! In this workshop, we will focus on proper technique, mechanics, and variations on the tribal shimmie, including tempo changes, layering, and moving across the floor. Deepen your technique and learn to build upon your shimmie to rythmically and visually represent the music. Workshop begins with Deb’s signature core yoga for belly dancers. 2 hour class

Take Your Drumming to the Next Level: An excellent follow-up to the Beginning drum class, or for intermediate/experienced drummers. Continue improving technique, adding more advanced Moroccan & Egyptian rhythms and introducing Turkish split-finger technique & ornamentation.  There will be a $5 discount on each drum class for those taking both drum classes. Drawing Down The Moon--Drawing Inward, Reflecting Outward, Building Expression and Cultivating Creativity: What moves your soul? Why do you dance? Who or what is your muse or inspiration? What do you want to tell the world? What do you have to offer up? And who are you and what do you want to express? These are questions we must ask ourselves in order to dance with more intention and as artists, give of ourselves to the dance, to ourselves, and to the audience. Work through expressive and fluid movements in this intense and creative workshop. 2 hour class

The Next Level-- Level Changes and Floorwork: Few things add such simple excitement to your performance as level changes. We'll start with proper leveling technique for slow or fast level changes and move into snakey slow movements and fun and dramatic combinations for your improv or choreography. Kneepads are recommended. We will be executing several very deep knee bends as a part of this workshop, so please consider your own knee health before registering! 2 hour class

Afro-Brazilian Combos for Warriors: Do you long to reach out and send your passion for movement ricocheting off the walls? To get every part of your body involved in your expression, from your toes to the tips of your hair? To conquer new heights of dance and rhythm? Join Samantha for an exuberant workshop which melds the sensuality of bellydance with the physicality of African and Brazilian movement. Sigil School: Get a behind-the-scenes look at the teaching format of Amy Sigil in this interactive split session with UNMATA. In the first half of class you will get on your feet for a Sigil School whirlwind demonstration.  In the second half of class, Amy will share her experience, ideas, and dance doctrine as well as answer your questions. Tag words: warm-ups, transitions, music, mixes, tempo, choreography, common vocab, work, craft, drill, team, time, counting, working backwards, notes, repetition, fellowship, and yes, you will sweat! 2 hour class
